John Barker, Non-Executive Chairman

John’s professional life began in the legal department of the German chemical company, Hoechst, from where he soon moved into banking and to Dresdner Kleinwort Benson, at which he made his career. As global head in corporate advisory, of the industrial and electronics sectors, John’s clients included the larger publicly listed companies in the UK, Europe, USA and Far East. John is a considerable asset to our business with his experience of the financial markets and extensive contacts in industry. His insight into the requirements of dynamic, growing businesses is at the heart of our success.
John is also chairman of the corporate finance firm Mid-Market Capital, which he founded in 2002. John’s recent clients have included a number of FTSE 100 companies and a significant UK based private equity house on a range of transactions.

Guy Barnes, Managing Director

One of the founding members of Augmentum, Guy leads the firm and undertakes senior search assignments across a variety of industries. Having previously held a number of senior roles within another leading search boutique, Guy’s extensive search experience for some of the world’s largest corporations and in-depth understanding of the leadership recruitment process guarantees a considered and successful approach to attracting market-leading talent.

Andy Davies, Director

Andy Davies has worked within executive search and selection for over seventeen years. He conducts assignments within the markets of Information Technology, Financial Services and Management Consultancy. He is also the Head of Augmentum's board practice. Prior to co-founding Augmentum he ran his own search boutique and held the position of EMEA Account Director within a leading international search firm. Before that he was a consultant and later divisional manager of one of the world's largest recruitment and HR outsourcing consultancies. An EMEA search professional with experience across the entire region, he counsels candidates on their career paths rather than focusing on solely the opportunity at hand.

Martin Newman, Director

Martin has over 20 years’ experience within executive search, and operates across sectors at Board, and board ‘+ 1 and 2’ levels, with an especially well developed understanding of HR related areas. Prior to Augmentum, Martin led one of Europe’s largest and most successful search firms, cultivating an extensive network of contacts.

Tim Hammett

Tim is a Partner at Augmentum and was formerly a Partner and Global Head of the Consumer and Media at one of the leading global search firms. He also led the Chief Marketing Officers Centre of Excellence across all sectors. Prior to joining them, Tim spent four years as a Partner in another of the global firms, again within the media and consumer sectors. Before embarking on a move into executive search, Tim spent five years as Global Sales and Marketing Director for an international fragrance manufacturer. Tim is an active triathlete competitor, spending many-a-Sunday on his bike in his local Kent countryside and has recently received his Master’s certificate in scuba diving.

Adrian Chalkley

Adrian is a Partner and co-founder at Augmentum. He has worked in search for 15 years, regularly undertaking global engagements in the areas leadership and change management. Although working across industry sector he has a particular focus in the areas of media, telecommunications and financial services. Adrian is responsible for managing some of Augmentum's largest corporate accounts and holds an MA in Business Communications. Adrian lives near Geneva, where he can fulfil his passion for skiing and paragliding. In a previous life Adrian worked for an expedition company, leading mountaineering expeditions in Africa, India and the US.

Eric Price

Eric became Partner at Augmentum after the company acquired Samuel Jacques Associates, where Eric was Managing Partner, in January 2011. He was previously TMT Partner at a global search firm, and prior to that Director and head of TMT for a UK-based boutique in an executive search career spanning more than ten years. As well as undertaking UK and international engagements in mobile telecoms, internet services and technology segments across the leadership functions, Eric has specialist search experience in professional services, energy, the education sector and architecture. Eric’s functional expertise includes commercial functions, talent, CRM and customer experience. Eric’s earlier career was in commodities trading, venture capital and specialist construction; he speaks fluent French and German and has an MBA from INSEAD. Eric, who lives in the Chilterns, has a love of the arts, whether performed or on the page, and is also a keen tennis player.

David James

David is the leader of Augmentum's Sports & Leisure business, a practice which was established to serve distinctive, high profile organisations and globally renowned brands. Prior to joining the firm, David worked in a variety of roles with governing bodies, rights holders, agencies and service providers. Most recently, he was Managing Director of Compass UK & Ireland’s Sports Business, providing catering, sales and marketing solutions, and a range of other services to some of the UK's most iconic venues, including Chelsea FC, Wimbledon, Twickenham, Goodwood and The Oval. Outside of work, David is an avid follower of all sports and a woefully inconsistent, but enthusiastic, golfer.

Phoebe Miles

Phoebe is Augmentum’s Diversity Practice Lead, and a search consultant. Phoebe has completed searches on behalf of a range of international clients, in sectors including consumer, alternative energy, mining and professional services. She is a regular contributor to thought leadership, best practice and policy creation regarding diversity, leadership and organisational culture. Phoebe has a degree in Education with English from Cambridge University, majoring in the sociology of education. Way back when, Phoebe worked in Equine therapy with autistic children, has more recently been part of various theatre collectives as an actor, and co-founded a record label last year. Phoebe is a Fellow of the Royal Society for the Encouragement of the Arts, Manufactures & Commerce (RSA).

Andrew Crawford:

A consultant at Augmentum, Andrew joined Augmentum in 2006 as the firm's first graduate hire. Since then he has worked across the business and has been responsible for delivering complex assignments across a range of sectors and geographies for clients ranging from leading FTSE100 organisations to small, privately owned firms. Andrew is an avid sports fan who, outside of Augmentum, will generally be found on a football pitch or golf course. Andrew has a degree in Engineering Science from Balliol College, Oxford, and  has a half blue in rowing (he was the one who steered and shouted!). Although Andrew hails from County Antrim, Northern Ireland, when not in London he’s most likely to be found in New York....

Richard Harris

Richard is a consultant who has 6 years of search experience behind him, having previously worked within the telecommunication sector. Prior to joining Augmentum in 2008, Richard worked for a leading global executive search firm in their professional services and technology, media and telecommunications practice. Richard has recently returned from completing the Boston Marathon, and is planning to take on New York in November and then Chicago next year, which would complete his running in the five ‘World Major’ marathons. Richard has also recently become a first-time dad to baby Theo.

Louisa Perry:

Louisa has 18 years’ experience in executive search and selection. She spent the last 4 years as a Director within a boutique firm, and prior to that worked for two international recruitment companies. In addition to her search experience, she is also a qualified psychologist. Louisa has in-depth experience of working across multiple sectors including retail, consumer and logistics amongst others and has specific functional expertise in hiring CIO’s and E-commerce/Digital Directors. Louisa is self-confessed ‘dog crazy’ and enjoys dragging her dogs and friends up mountains and out into the countryside in her free time. Louisa is also a qualified osteopath.

Lucie Shaw:

Lucie is trilingual, and has 5 years’ experience in the search and recruitment industry. Her assignments to date have been spread across a number of sectors and she has worked for a broad range of clients across EMEA. Lucie is a Modern Languages (French & German) graduate with a degree from St. John’s College, Oxford. Lucie lives in West London with her husband and daughter, but lived a large part of her youth in France, retaining her linguistic capabilities which she brings to bear on her work. She is has recently taken up Yoga and is now a convert!

Ian Millard

Ian has over ten years of executive search experience. Prior to Augmentum, Ian worked for an executive search boutique focusing on Telco, Professional Services and Software markets. Today, Ian’s time is spent working on UK and International assignments focusing on sales and marketing leadership, general management, and technology related positions. Ian has worked on behalf of a range of businesses both in size and scale. They have included general management positions in global Corporates, to VC backed start ups. Ian is a regular participant in some of the UK’s most gruelling endurance races, having taken part in the ‘hell runner’ challenge most recently.

Caroline Tarpey:

Caroline has over 12 years executive search experience, gained primarily within boutique organisations. Professionally she has operated across a variety of sectors with clients that include FTSE banking, telecoms and consumer giants, as well as the large professional services firms. Functionally she specialises in roles which drive transformation agendas of all varieties, and has built strong networks within this space. Caroline was once something of a rower, competing both at Women's Henley and the National Championships; these days, due to the demands of a family, she has lapsed into infrequent skiing and windsurfing to satisfy her sporting needs. Something not many people know about Caroline - she once appeared on Blue Peter and has the badge to prove it!

Carly Edwards

Carly supports Augmentum’s operational and financial administration. She has five years’ experience as a Chartered Accountant working for both a localised accountancy company along with operating as group financial accountant for a large London based media publisher. Recently married she has decided to broaden her horizons and move into an executive assistant role within Augmentum where she will be assisting consultants with their day to day activities. Her broad range of accountancy experience will bring a new dimension to the team.
