Technology, Media & Telecommunications
The next few years should prove to be an exciting yet challenging time within the TMT sector. Most companies are faced with having to re-structure their business models as subscriber growth in traditional services continues to slow, leading to an increasing focus on the creation of new revenue streams, customer profitability, customer retention and operating cost control.
For mobile operators the overwhelming percentage of their data revenue continues to be driven by applications such as text messaging, whilst for fixed line providers, data revenues are being created almost exclusively by monthly connectivity subscriptions, as opposed to services such as online gaming or IPTV. The media companies have the ability to set up pay per view and pay per download services in a market that looks set for strong growth.
Despite these challenges there are, inevitably, a wealth of new opportunities that offer alternative or complementary sources of revenue for our clients and their competitors alike. Although the business models for most are still relatively immature, activity has now reached a level where some of these new services have at last become commercially viable.
Our dedicated TMT practice has successfully delivered assignments on behalf of a range of tier one clients and is well placed to strengthen, build and enhance senior management teams and address the challenges and opportunities that lie ahead.
