John Barker
John Barker is non-executive chairman of Augmentum Consulting and also executive chairman of the corporate finance firm Mid-Market Capital.
John started his professional life in the legal department of the German chemical company Hoechst. As a result of his exposure to their takeover of a significant UK publicly listed company, he moved into banking. Before founding Mid-Market Capital, he had made his career at Dresdner Kleinwort Benson, where he was global head, in corporate advisory, of the industrial and electronics sectors for a number of years. His clients included the larger publicly listed companies head-quartered in the UK and continental Europe, the USA, and the Far East. More recently, in addition to FTSE 100 companies and blue chip institutions, clients have included a significant UK based private equity house on a public to private transaction; other private equity houses on cross-border M&A; and, a range of growing companies.
At Augmentum, John provides us with considerable experience of the requirements of dynamic, growing businesses, a wide range of contacts, and wise council. He is also supporting our work in the financial services sector.
